Endorsed Health Improvement Practitioner level required for this position.

This is a mobile HIP role that covers the whole of Taitokerau.  A role that will work both in a face to face and virtual capacity where appropriate.  This is an exciting mobile role that will be required to support general practices in the absence of the existing HIP, or to increase capacity in a general practice for a period of time. 

This role will be based in Whangarei but will be expected to be flexible and travel.

This position requires someone who is endorsed as a Health Improvement Practitioner and is an

experienced and innovative Clinician having worked in the Te Tumu Waiora model providing immediately accessible, evidence-based brief interventions to individuals and their whanau to assist in improving their emotional and physical health, and overall wellbeing.

Services are provided in accordance with the principles of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi, Tikanga and Māori models of health and wellbeing.  Services are culturally responsive to the needs of all service users, their whanau and community.

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • Experience and endorsement as a Health Improvement Practitioner
  • A flexible adaptable approach to a new way of working
  • A current New Zealand registration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) and full registration with your professional association e.g., Psychology, Psychotherapy, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapy, or Social Work, DAPPANZ Registration, or a full member of NZ Association of Counsellors and accredited by the NZAC to work within the mental health and addictions services scope of practice.
  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience in a health setting preferably in mental health and addictions including providing evidence-based brief interventions such as ACT, FACT or CBT.
  • A current unencumbered full NZ driver’s licence
  • Excellent computer and literacy skills including MS Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be fully vaccinated for COVID
  • NZ residency, citizenship, or a open current work visa not tied to an accredited employer.

An understanding of Tikanga and some ability to speak Te Reo would be an advantage.

You may be required to attend training for this role from time to time.
