Completing Gout Stop medication lowers patients’ uric acid.

Comparing the pre-referral and post-discharge urate measurements of 173 patients enrolled at Mahitahi Hauora partner general practices who completed the three-month Gout Stop Programme, shows this group achieved a statistically significant average drop of 0.12 mmol/L. This is 4 times the average drop of 0.03 mmol/L seen in a group of 23 patients who started the programme but did not complete it.

These results show the positive impact that Gout Stop medication, and the mahi of Mahitahi Hauora’s Clinical Hub, has on the health and wellbeing of patients suffering from gout in Te Tai Tokerau.
