Equitable spirometry access is a key priority of the Mahitahi Hauora Long Term Conditions programme. To support sustainable primary health outcomes, and top-of-scope practice through workforce development, Mahitahi Hauora is funding spirometry training for practice nurses.
Applicants can claim for course fees, reasonable travel and accommodation costs, and back fill for nurse time.
For rural practices in the Far North, Hokianga, Mid North, Dargaville, and rural Whangārei, training costs can be covered by the Rural Provider Fund for Special Interest Training. Please follow the standard RPFSI application process. Mahitahi Hauora will fund successful applicants from urban Whangārei practices through its Spirometry Coordination Service project.
Applications will be accepted and processed until the funds are exhausted, with applicants responsible for arranging their own training. Accredited providers include the New Zealand Respiratory and Sleep Institute located at the Greenlane Respiratory Clinic (contact Christina@nzrsi.health.nz to arrange training), and Asthma Waikato. This is a one-off funding opportunity, with no guarantee of ongoing financial support.
Application information for urban Whangarei practices will be emailed to your practice soon. If you need more information, have questions, or need help preparing your application, please contact education@mahitahihauora.co.nz
