Health Improvement Practitioner, Far North 1.0FTE

We are looking for another HIP to join our great team of clinicians supporting Northland communities.

Our HIP team are a mixture of RN’s, Social Workers, OT’s, and Counsellors, experienced in Mental Health and Addictions providing behavioural health services to assist in improving individuals and whanau in their emotional and physical health, and overall wellbeing.

Working in general practice and outlying clinics in the far north means no two days will be the same, and you will be working with a diverse population of all ages and stages.

What you will do:

  • Work alongside GP’s, Nurses, and Kaimahi in primary care to make a difference
  • Offer quick, practical support that helps people take charge of their wellbeing
  • Connect whaiora with local services and create positive change – one conversation at a time
  • Educate your general practice colleagues in utilising the HIP model
  • Provide and receive collegial support through peer group sessions

Who we are after:

  • A qualified NZ registered health professional (Psych, Nursing, Social Worker, DAPANZ Counsellor, OT’s)
  • 3 years minimum professional experience in field of registration
  • A clinician who is ready to learn the HIP model (extensive training provided)
  • A great communicator who builds trust quickly
  • A team player, open minded, down to earth and passionate about Hauora
  • Someone who is passionate in supporting the needs of communities.

Services are provided in accordance with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga and Maoir models of health and wellbeing.  Services are culturally responsive to the needs of all services uses their whanau and community.

An understanding of Tikanga and some ability to speak Te Reo would be an advantage.

You must have NZ citizenship or residency, or a current NZ open work visa not tied to an
