Health Improvement Practitioner, Whangarei – Part time roles (0.6-0.8FTE)

We’re on the lookout for several Health Improvement Practitioners (HIP) to join our Whangarei team!

If you are a registered clinician experienced in providing behavioural health services, and evidence-based brief interventions, and whose preference is to work part time, and within a well-supported innovative team, then this role could be just what you are looking for.

This role offers an opportunity to work in a hybrid model of virtual and face to face consults with the patients of general practice.

What you will do:

  • Work alongside GP’s, Nurses, and Kaimahi in primary care to make a difference
  • Offer quick, practical support that helps people take charge of their wellbeing
  • Connect whaiora with local services and create positive change – one conversation at a time
  • Educate your general practice colleagues in utilising the HIP model
  • Provide and receive collegial support through peer group sessions

Who we are after:

  • A qualified NZ registered health professional (Psych, Nursing, Social Worker, DAPANZ, Counsellor, OT’s)
  • 3 years minimum professional experience in field of registration
  • A clinician who is ready to learn the HIP model (extensive training provided)
  • A great communicator who builds trust quickly
  • A team player, open minded, down to earth and passionate about Hauora

You must have NZ citizenship or residency, or a current NZ open work visa not tied to an employer.  We are not an accredited immigration employer and cannot accept applications who require visa support.

Services are provided in accordance with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga and Māori models of health and wellbeing.  Services are culturally responsive to the needs of all service users, their whanau and community.

An understanding of Tikanga and some ability to speak Te Reo would be an advantage.
