Roadshow supports nurse education across the generations

Whether you’re starting out on a nursing career or looking to develop advanced nursing skills and knowledge, the Post Graduate Nursing Academic Roadshow 2022 has something for you.

The annual Roadshow brings together university representatives from AUT, Massey University and the University of Auckland to provide information on nursing academic pathways, course information, funding applications, and types of support available.

For mother and daughter nursing duo Mary-Ann and Riley Clueard, last year’s Roadshow was a valuable opportunity to plan for the future at different stages of their nursing career.

Registered Nurse Mary-Ann says attending the Roadshow enabled her to decide to enrol in a Master of Nursing qualification.

“I’m now halfway through my Master’s programme and being able to talk to a group of postgraduate representatives is very helpful in planning your steps moving forward into postgraduate study.”

For Riley, then a Year 12 secondary school student who has since been accepted into a university nursing programme, the Roadshow was an opportunity to plan her pathway into nursing.

“Even though the Roadshow isn’t directed at undergraduates, having the conversations with university representatives was really helpful for Riley to develop her plan. It gave her a greater understanding of the options she had as an undergraduate student as well as for the postgraduate pathway she’ll take when she’s finished her degree,” Mary-Ann says.

Stacey Wilson, Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau Nurse Coordinator: Post Graduate Education, says all registered nurses in Northland are welcome to attend.

“The roadshow is a really great way to get an idea of what your post graduate academic pathway may look like moving forward in your specific career pathway. All welcome! Drop in when you are able, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.”
