Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) Rawene, Hokianga 0.6FTE

Supporting the Hokianga community working from Rawene health clinics.

We have a 0.6FTE (24 hours per week) available to support the Rawene Clinics, having recently appointed another HIP to this team.

This position is situated within Hauora Hokianga and is physically located in the Rawene GP Clinic. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference working with a diverse population in a rural setting.

We are employing more Health Improvement Practitioners than ever before, as we grow our reach of Mental Health and wellbeing services across Tai Tokerau, and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a well supported team of professionals, and be part of a team of two HIP’s supporting the Rawene clinics.

As an experienced and innovative Clinician working within our established and growing primary mental health care model Te Tumu Waiora, you will provide behavioural health services to patients through face to face and virtual consults.

The position will be situated and will work as an integrated member of Rawene Medical Centre and outlying clinic teams and provide immediately accessible, evidence-based brief interventions to individuals and their whanau to assist in improving their emotional and physical health, and overall wellbeing.

Services are provided in accordance with the principles of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi, Tikanga and Māori models of health and wellbeing.  Services are culturally responsive to the needs of all service users, their whanau and community.

The successful applicant/s will be supported by specialist training, specifically developed to support the Healthcare Teams working in the Te Tumu Waiora model, that includes the following:

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • A flexible adaptable approach to a new way of working
  • A current New Zealand registration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) and full registration with your professional association e.g., Psychology, Psychotherapy, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapy, or Social Work, or a full member of NZ Association of Counsellors and accredited by the NZAC to work within the mental health and addictions services scope of practice.
  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience in a health setting preferably in mental health and addictions including providing evidence-based brief interventions such as ACT, FACT or CBT.
  • A current unencumbered full NZ driver’s licence
  • Excellent computer and literacy skills including MS Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be fully vaccinated for COVID
  • NZ residency, citizenship, or a open current work visa not tied to an accredited employer.

An understanding of Tikanga and some ability to speak Te Reo would be an advantage.
